MURUD BEACH

A small sea coast village, located about 12 km from Dapoli, named after one of the greatest visionaries the nation has seen to date, the Murud beach or the Maharshi Karve Beach, is a vast expanse of flat sandy beach. A very popular beach with bird watchers around our resort. Murud beach is hub for water sports activities like parasailing, banana rides, Ski Jet scooters, Bumper rides, Dolphin watching rides etc. are just few steps away from our resort. You will also find many people having fun riding their bikes and cars on the Murud beach.

Harnai Port, Light House and Forts

Harnai port 5 km from our resort is the main fishing village. Every evening hundreds of fishing boats come back after fishing and gather to auction their catch. The fish auction is the essential trade step between fish landings and the trade. Business worth lakhs of rupees is carried out daily between 4 pm to 7 pm. Witnessing the fish auctions here is an awesome inspiring experience and shouldn’t be missed.

Kanakdurga Fort

Kanakdurg fort is spread over about of 0.25 hectares. The fort is in complete ruins now except for a few things like water tanks, two dilapidated bastions and a beautiful lighthouse. Kanakdurg Fort was built to protect Suvarnadurga.This fort is built on a huge rock and there are rock steps to ascend the fort. There is a lighthouse on the fort which is the oldest and important light house on entire Konkan coast. You can stand near the lamp post & observe Murud beach, anchored ships in the harbor, Suvarnadurg & endless sea horizon. It was built in the Adil Shah rule and later captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Fort entrance is grand. Just on the left had side are 2 canons, depicting that the Fort was used by the Maratha Navy during its war conquests

Suvarnadurg Fort

Located about a quarter of a mile off the coast from Harnai port is the fascinating Suvarnadurg Fort. A rocky island, Suvarnadurg is about 8 acres big with stone wall bastions. There is no landing jetty at the Suvarnadurga fort. However, the landing is on the shores of the sandy beach of the rocky island. Building of the Suvarnadurg fort is credited to Shivaji maharaj. Built for the Maratha Navy for defense purpose. Suvarvadurg also had a ship building facility. The basic objective of establishing the fort was to counter enemy attacks, by the colonialists of Europe and by the local chieftains. Suvarnadurg fort is open to tourists from November to end of May, post which the ferry service is suspended due to rains. A visit to Suvarnadurg fort should not take you more than an hour and a half in total. Ideal time to visit the fort is during sunrise.

Panhalakaji Caves

The Panhalakaji caves are located on the Dapoli-Dabhil Pangari road. The road goes right up to the caves. It is situated deep in the valleys and is surrounded by jungle and river which are filled with birds and reptiles. Discovered in 1970 Panhalekaji is a complex of 29 caves filled with exquisite art value and many sculptures around with respect to architecture and quality of craftmanship. These Buddhist caves have a few inscriptions in Brahmi and Devanagari and remnants of statues from 3 AD and the is the best place for a history buff of adventure enthusiast. Panhalekaji is about 35 Kms from Dapoli and 47 km from our resort, over an hour drive. All 29 caves are not placed next to each other; they are spread around the entire site. Representations of Matsyendranatha, Adinatha and Uma are there inside cave number 29. This cave also hosts sculptures of Goraknatha and Maha-Tripurasundari. Different panels inside this cave show various figures. Small panels in this cave have 84 Siddhas. Buddhist stupa from the 3rd century AD is in cave number 5.

Kadyavarcha Ganapati

The Ganesh temple is situated in Anjarle village near Dapoli. It was first constructed with wood in 1150AD and then reconstructed between 1768-1780 and again in the 1900s. It is particularly known for the right-side placement of the Ganesha's idol which means its trunk curves towards right side (Ujwya Sondecha Ganpati or right-trunked Ganpati) which is rare. The Ganpati temple situated on the cliff near the sea, hence called Kadyavarcha Ganpati. The idol is also said to be a jagrut daiwat who responds to the pleas of its supplicants. The temple has a stone staircase to reach the top of the temple. The view from atop is magnificent and surrounded by coconut and betel nut trees, the nearby Suvarnadurg Fort, the Arabian sea and surrounding hills. Beside the Ganesh temple there is a smaller temple dedicated to Shiva.

Keshavraj

Keshavraj is situated between Dapoli and Asud Pul (Bridge). You can access it via Dabkewadi after which you cross a small river. There is steep climb where you are greeted with the fresh water which is said to have been coming from a tree trunk and is present all days of the year. The Keshavraj idol is a must see. Trek to Keshavraj begins from a village called Asud.. It's a tiny village of 15-20 families situated around 7 kms. from Dapoli and 5 km from our resort. Asud is also known as Asud Baug. This place has retained its typical village charm. Nature has blessed this place in abundance. The trek to Keshavraj is an easy trek for about half an hour. The way is through dense forest on both the sides. Coconut, betel nut, cashew nut and jackfruit trees. After about 10 minutes of walk we must walk down a few steps. After we walk down there is a small rivulet and a bridge takes us across. Gentle sound of water streaming through scenic landscape is the only sound you hear here. Very peaceful. There was a wooden bridge earlier. In local language it is called as Sakav. Some scenes of movie Garambicha Bapu starring Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar were picturized here. Then we must climb a few steps uphill. Not many, just around 200 odds. Once we reach on the top a beautiful temple resting in the lap of nature takes away all the fatigue. Chirping of birds welcomes us. One must be humble to enter temple premises hence a low height entrance to make us bow down. On the right side is Gomukh. Perennial water flows from the hillock up above. Sweet and naturally cold water. Wash your hands & feet and take a few sips. Pleasing to all the senses and soul. Ancient temple and dimly lit idol of Shree Keshavraj. Heavenly sight. This is a highly recommended place for visit to nature lovers and who wish to explore the serenity of Konkan.

Karde Beach

Karde Beach is also a popular weekend gateway like Murud beach. The extensive stretch of golden shore lined with Suru trees is perfect for relaxing long strolls, the sunsets, while the ocean is famous for swimming, boating and dolphin spotting. The secluded attraction is perfect for those looking for a tranquil escape or for some soul-searching.

Ladghar Beach

Ladghar is a small stretch of beach to the south of the rocky hillock which separates it from Karde. Ladghar extends onto Burundi - a small fishing hamlet to its south. The attraction also has some religious importance due to the presence of the ancient Dutta Mandir. The beautiful beach is also known as Tamas Teertha because of the red colour it has in most of the areas by the shoreline.

Kolthare Beach

Kolthare Beach is an unspoiled attraction perfect for beach and nature lovers. Located in Kolthare Village, it is known for an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and tranquility all through the stretch. Those looking to escape the crowded vacation spots will find Kolthare beach a perfect attraction.

Parshuram Bhumi

Parshuram Bhumi is a hilltop famous for its scenic beauty. The attraction is marked by a stunning 21 feet tall statue of Lord Parshuram installed on top of one half of a globe that has a radius of 20 feet. It is one of the best locations to get a marvelous view of the Tamas Teertha and the surrounding terrain.

Tamastirth Beach

Tamastirth Beach is famous for its reddish tinge waters which quite resemble muddy water but is a salient feature of this attraction. Kelshi Beach

Dabhol

The name of Dabhol was included in oldest ever map of Tolemee. Dabhol was princliple trading port between 13th to 16th centuries & also had military importance. It was named as "Dalabhyapuri", "Dalabhyawati", "Mahikawati", "Hamajabad", "Maimunabad". This prot was ruled by Chaul, Shilahar, hindu and then muslim dynasty. You will find many religious places of Hindu and Muslim around Dabhol. Dabhol beach is one amongst the many highlights of a vacation in Dabhol. Chandikadevi Temple is the primary attraction in Dabhol. The underground temple of Chandikadevi with a swayambhu idol is thronged by pilgrims every year during shivaratri.The revered Vashishti river meets the sea in Dabhol forming the Dabhol creek. Hire a boat and wade into the river with a fishing rod and you could try your hand at fishing too in the creek!

Chandikadevi Temple

Believed to be from the Pandav era the swayambhu Chandika Devi temple housed within a small underground cave is located on the Dabhol-Dapoli road about 27 kms from Dapoli. Housed within a small cave without electrical lights, lit up by 'samayis' is the idol of Chandika devi .The festival of Navaratri is celebrated in a big way at the temple. During the celebration, thousands of people come from different parts of the state to see the diety.

Crocodile Spotting

Maldoli is a small village near Chiplun by the banks of Vashishti river. Spotting a crocodile in the Vashishti river is the major attraction of the place. A boat trip to Maldoli can be organized from Dabhol and the boat ride would take about two hrs upstream from Dabhol.Once you reach Maldoli spotting a crocodile is almost definite.

Around Anjarle

Mahalakshmi temple is located in Kelshi about 10 kms from Anjarle. Mahalakshmi temple was built during the Peshwa regime and the idol is believed to be swayambhu with a powerful diety. The temple also has the idols of Lord Ganpati and Lord Shiva. This temple is located at the base of the Utambare hill. Near the temple is Yakub Baba Dargah and is believed that the darshan of Mahalakshmi is incomplete without a visit to the dargah One of the two Parashuram temples in Konkan, the other being the one in Chiplun, Shree Bhargavram temple is located in Ade approximately 10 kilometers from Anjarle. Shree Bhargavram temple complex with five temples each of which faces east is located between Kelshi and Ade . Along with the main temple of Shree Bhargavram, this complex also houses the temples of Shiva, Renuka, Hanuman, Ganesh, Vetal and Shani. A very beautiful fort dotting the coastline of the Konkan strip, the fort of Himmatgad, now popularly known as Bankot is not a destination thronged by the tourists. Bankot lies in the northern most end of Ratnagiri district and is about 40 kms via the coastal road from Anjarle. Bankot is located very near the ferry wharf connecting Dapoli to Harihareshwar across the Bhagmandala. If you wish to you may also visit the Harihareshwar mandir.
